James Byron Dean (1931.2.28. – September 30, 1955.) was an American actor who was the perfect epitome of the “unprovoked rebellion” of teenagers.
James Dean was born in Marion, Indiana, to his farmer father Winton Dean and mother Mildred Marie Wilson.
James was very close to his mother and was the only one who could understand him. However, in 1938, when James was 7, his mother suddenly suffered from acute abdominal pain, quickly losing weight, and died of uterine cancer at the age of 9.
James excelled in high school and was a popular student.
He was an outstanding student who played for baseball and national basketball teams, studied theater, and participated in public speeches through the Forensic Service.
1. James Dean and Wills meeting at UCLA
After graduating from Fairmount High School in May 1949, he returned to California with his dog, Max, who he had raised to live with his father and stepmother.
James entered the law school of Santa Monica University at his father’s will.
However, his interest was in theater. He transferred to UCLA to quit interest in law and concentrate on acting. As he changed his major to theater, his relationship with his father became estranged.
In UCLA, James’s acting qualities began to stand out. He was also selected as the main character among 350 actors to play Malcolm in the play Macbeth.
While acting in college, her good looks became the object of admiration for many women. She enjoyed dating CBS actress Beverly Wills and her classmate Jeanette Lewis.
He also went on a double date with his friends Bust and actresses.
And it went beyond the usual relationship with Beverly Wills. However, the relationship between the two was not long. James, still young, danced at one party without Wills refusing to accept the offer of another man to dance to Wills.
James became angry as if he had exploded, and they ended up separating after a heated argument over this. Beverly Wills later recalled that they had promised to get married and that they truly loved each other.

Dean’s first biographer and friend since college, William Bust, did not confirm whether he had sex with him as a same-sex until 2006.
James dropped out of school (UCLA) in January 1951 to pursue a full-fledged career as an actor. And in October, Dean moved to New York on the advice of actor James Whitmore and his mentor Rogers Brackett.
3. James’s full-fledged acting career and love with dancer Liz Sheridan
James Dean, who came to New York, did not improve his life contrary to expectations and remained unknown. And while working on an unnamed stage on New York’s night street, he meets Elizabeth Sheridan, a nightclub dancer.
Elizabeth Ann Sheridan (1929 – 2022) was born in Lai, New York. She began her career as a New York nightclub dancer and singer in 1950, and this was when she met James Dean.<<<
Sheridan, who worked as a dancer in a New York City nightclub, met James Dean, who was then unknown. Liz wrote a book titled “Dizzy & Jimmy: My Life with James Dean: A Love Story” after James died.
In the book, she describes the two as each other’s first love. “We had a good time … We didn’t want to be apart. We lived looking for a place to live together. Until he had a really big success…“
Their relationship was happy. At some point, they even traveled to Ohio with Major League Baseball player Clyde McCullough.
If the two get married and have a baby, they will have a child as a baseball player, and they will call his nickname Dizzy Dean.”
James started his career on an unnamed stage in New York, but soon landed a movie role in Hollywood. James didn’t have a solid foothold or plan, so he wasn’t authorized to choose anyone’s suggestion.
The options for their future were narrow. Their relationship therefore came to an end in late 1952. “James was being taken away by other people for his busy career as an actor, and I couldn’t keep up with him,” Liz recalled.
In early 1953, Sheridan left New York City for Virgin Islands, leaving James behind. He had a brief engagement with Justus Villa, also known as Pancho, but soon broke up his marriage and returned to New York.
And one day, at a party in New York, the two met again by chance.
In the cab after the party, James told Liz, “Nothing has changed between us. It will never be. You are part of me and I am part of you. I will take you with me wherever I go,” but those words were not fulfilled.
That was the last time Liz saw James.
In 1996, actress Liz Sheridan detailed her relationship with Dean in New York, recalling, “It was magical. We were both first loves.”
He spent most of his early career working in the Caribbean Sea and then returned to the United States. He appears in plays, musicals, and TV on Broadway, and works with famous actors and actresses in Hollywood as singers and actors.
Sheriden died on April 15, 2022, at his home in Manhattan at the age of 93.
